A Weekend of News and Surprise Amberes Art!

It was a fairly hectic weekend here when it came to all things The Book of Gold.

First up. the wonderful Goldsboro books posted on Instagram the The Book of Gold was one of their January bestsellers – and look at the books its up alongside! 😀

Then the BSFA Awards longlist was released and there it was in the Best Novel section (please vote for it if you can! I’m going to be at Eastercon in Belfast this year!)

And finally, to top it all off, The Book of Gold also appeared on the 2024 Recommended Reading Guide from Locus Magazine!

It has been quite a few days! (including all the stress of an unwell dog, but she’s on the mend now thank goodness – part of the reason why I’m only getting around to posting now…)

So to celebrate, and because you all know my obsession with art, and especially pictures of my characters, I’m over the moon to share with you some beautiful artwork featuring Amberes, Sylvian and Lyta from The Book of Gold by the very talented Running bird Inc (lexiaarts001 on Instagram ; @lexiaarts on Bluesky )

Enjoy, and if you have any Amberes art of your own, be sure to let me know! <3

The Stone’s Heart RNA Award Nomination

I’m over the moon to share that The Stone’s Heart, the sequel to The Queen’s Wing by Jessica Thorne has been nominated for the Romantic Novelists Association Fantasy Romantic Novel Award. It’s an amazing shortlist and I’m so delighted to be on it. All the details and all the nominations are on the RNA website here.

We are delighted to announce the shortlists for the prestigious 2020 Romantic Novel Awards in what promises to be a spectacular year for the Association, as we celebrate our 60th (Diamond) Anniversary. Writer and performer Jenny Eclair will present the Awards during a ceremony at Leonardo Royal London City Hotel on Monday 2nd March.

I adore this book and its heroine, Petra. It’s pure Space Opera and Petra herself is kickass and vulnerbale at the same time. I’m absolutely honoured and can’t wait for the party. Fancy gúna has been bought and the golden glittery shoes are making a comeback. Such and adventure.

Thanks so much to Bookouture, my editors Kathryn and Ellen, and my agent Sallyanne, and to all my friends and family.

Well that was unexpected!

Today I found out that I’ve been awarded the The Spirit of Dedication Award For Best Author of Children’s Science Fiction and Fantasy by the European Science Fiction Society at their annual Eurocon convention in St. Petersburg. I never win things. This is just so amazing! I can’t quite believe it yet. I get an award jointly with the Russian illustrator Anton Lomaev, whose art is simply breathtaking!

The lovely Gar Kavanagh is bringing it back for me and in the meantime sent me photos!

I’m over the moon! (no pun intended!), especially after a very bleak week. Thank you so much!
